This "update" of the association agreement signed between the EU and Mexico in 2000 could include aspects related to energy , following the reform of the sector promoted by the Enrique Peña Nieto administration.
The "update," he said, "should better reflect the reality of both the EU and Mexico," the world's eighth-largest oil producer with 2.5 million barrels per day, according to Mexican data .
The energy sector "is a topic not included in the current version of the agreement, but it would be interesting to explore it" in the EU-Mexico shared vision report that will define the level of ambition for the updated bilateral agreement, the foreign minister noted.
